Cleveland Browns vs. Houston Texans betting preview
Everything you need to know for betting NFL player props in Cleveland vs. Houston.
We’re mixing it up this week, it’s playoff time! This initial betting preview will be free, but the rest will not, so if you find this information helpful and want it for all six games, you’re going to want to subscribe.
Rather than walking through the stats as a whole for things like touchdowns, receptions, etc., it seems only right that we go game-by-game, consolidating all key metrics, to find the best betting avenues for all of the Wild Card matchups.
Browns vs. Texans key metrics
I’m certainly hoping that the above is clean and easy to read, but don’t be shy in the comments if you need this explained more thoroughly. The above breaks down the stats as they relate to the three positions we typically look into.
Apply this however you see fit, I’ll walk through what I’m seeing next.
What stands out
We’re going to want to attack this Houston secondary with some Cleveland passing props, both for a WR that has a down-field role, and a TE due to Houston allowing the most receptions/game to tight ends. Or ya know, simply look to Joe Flacco.
It’s hard to feel good about CJ Stroud or any Texans pass-catchers against this stout Cleveland secondary. I for one would either avoid, or look to some unders.
Houston’s best bet to move the football might be on the ground here, so Texans RBs worth looking at.
Players to consider
Amari Cooper
Houston allowing 6th-most 20+ yard passes and yards/pass attempt, bottom-10 pass defense DVOA
122 targets, 72 receptions, 17.4 yards/catch, 14.1 aDOT
Cooper is the clear top WR for Flacco and this Browns offense, both in targets and in deep-threat ability.
Cooper went 11-265-2 just three weeks ago against this Houston defense. He has 77+ yards in three straight games.
David Njoku
Houston allowing most receptions/game to TEs and their secondary is allowing 6th-most yards/pass attempt
120 targets, 81 receptions, 10.9 yards/catch, 4.8 aDOT
Njoku has 6+ catches in four straight games and seven of his last eight, averaging 70.38 yards/game in that stretch.
Joe Flacco
Flacco is averaging 323.2 passing yards per game and threw for 368 and 3 touchdowns in Week 16 against Houston.
Devin Singletary
Cleveland allowing 12th-most yards per rush
216 carries, 898 yards, 4.2 yards/carry
Singletary has 60+ yards in four of his last five, but went just 9-44 against Cleveland in Week 16.
Things to maybe avoid
Houston passing props
Cleveland rushing props
Touchdown props
In summation, I have my eyes on some Cleveland passing props and I’m leaning towards the Browns winning and the under, if you’re into that kind of thing.
Next up: Dolphins vs. Chiefs.
Kicking or defense props seem like they may be in play in this game...any thoughts 🤔
